Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!!

So a couple of months ago I was talking to a close male friend and decided to tell him about my love of makeup and how I really enjoyed experimenting with it and trying new things. His response to this was why do girls wear makeup, I think they are pretty enough without it?  This was such a weird and different thing to hear from a guy of my age and got me thinking about why I wear makeup and how it makes me feel.

I started wearing the odd bit of lipgloss or lipstick when i was about eight or nine, but this was never a daily occurrence and only when i was going out somewhere special or wanted to wear some. However just like every other girl I know, I began wearing makeup on  a daily basis in about year eight to year nine at school, which is about twelve to thirteen years old. I know many people think this is a bit young for it (Certainly my dad was one of them) but I think I just started wearing it  because everyone else around me was. To me it felt like I would be considered weird if I didnt wear any makeup. Even though it wasnt as much makeup as i wear now ,only a bit of mascara, blusher and sometimes even eyeliner, in a way I still felt special when I wore it, different to when i didn't wear any. And from there my love of makeup grew and grew.

I think that makeup is such  a love of mine because if i am having a bad skin day or i look tired I can hide it. A simple bit of concealer means I dont have to show people that I am stressed or haven't slept well. I just look my normal self. And to me this is a positive thing.

Makeup is also a confidence booster. People may consider this a weird thing to say, but I believe it is true, Days I do venture out the house without makeup I seem to bow my head down and just feel like I look aweful. However days I have taken the time to apply makeup and make myself more presentable I feel much more confident and alive. I feel like People look at me and actually see what I want them to see, and not a girl who hasnt made an effort that morning.

So in answer to his question all I have to say  is that I wear makeup because I want too, and not because anyone else makes me. It is the thing that makes me happy and makes my day more enjoyable and run smoothly. Men may like women who wear makeup or women who don't wear makeup, this is up to them. However I am not doing this to please a man, I am doing it to make me happy

Drugstore Hoarder

I know some people on here like to range the variety of makeup they have and also their price ranges, but I am a purely a drugstore girl.  By working part time I don't have as much money as others to splurge on expensive or higher end makeup products from brands such a Mac or Smashbox. Therefore I resort to drugstore makeup, and I love it!!

Sometimes I may wish I could try a Mac product that someone has blogged about, but then I think about it and the fact that with the money I spend on one product from there I could get two or three products from drugstore ranges, to me there is no competition.

In no way am I slating the people who do love Mac, I am just saying that for now Maybelline and Loreal will do for me. For now there are so many different things I want to try from Boots and Superdrug, that I dont have a clue what I will pick next.

So if anyone has suggestions or reccomendations on things I should try please let me know!!!

Prime Time

Primer, one of my most loved makeup products, and something I am always on the look out for. So when i was in Superdrug, browsing through the makeup section last month, the new Maybelline primer 'The Smoother Skin Retexturising Primer' caught my eye. I have been trying it out over the last couple of weeks with my normal  foundation and thought that today i would do a little review on it.

Packaging: The product comes in a small 7 ml glass pot with a screw lid. When holding the pot it feels quite weighty and to me this gives it a kind of 'expensive feel'

The Product:  The product is a gel like texture and to me this seemed strange as I am used to primers that are cream based.

Application: A little of this product goes a long way, and this is good due to the tiny amount you acttually get,  All you have to do is take a tiny bit  and gently rub it in to your skin. This product is amazing and almost like magically leaves your skin as smooth as a babies bottom., meaning you are easily able to apply your foundation on top of it. It also doesn't take a long time to dry and means that if you are in a rush then this is the perfect product for you.

Cost: Now for the amount of product you get I would say that this is a bit pricey. The average price I can find is around £9.99 from Boots and Superdrug.

Overall Opinion: Once you put this  on it leaves your skin silky smooth, and once the rest of your makeup is applied it will stay on a lot longer than not using it. Now although I like this product and the way it leaves your skin I don't this it is the best product for me. I think that for me, someone with normal to dry skin, this primer is very drying and  not the best type for me. This is why I think I am going to revert back to only using cream based primers.

HAPPY EASTER

Hullo there fellow bloggers!!!

HAPPY EASTER!!!!

I know I know it is not even Easter yet but to me it is as I have just gone and brought my Easter Eggs for other people. Is it me or is Easter never as exciting as it was when you were a kid. It is just like Christmas in that sense. I know this sounds sad but when i was a kid my parents used to hide little eggs around the house with clues and we had to use all the clues to find our massive stash of Easter Eggs. Me as a kid thought this was awesome!!! and to be honest i probably still would :P I dont know, it seems that as a teenager you are autoaticcally considered 'too old' for easter eggs. Not me!!!! Come on who doesnt love a bit of chocolate no matter what type it is , and it is egg shaped so even better!!! As well as it being free.

These days it just seems as if we get one egg, or some times non. But this year I felt generous and brough an Egg for my brother and my best friend. (Oh and maybe one for myself, but who can blaim me sainsburys had a buy one get one free deal :P)

Anyway just a quick post to wish you all Happy Easter and enjoy your time off!!!!

I FOUND IT!!

After a long time searching I have finally found the perfect bag for me!! In my previous blog post i wrote about how I have been searching for a long time for the perfect spring to summer bag and i have finally found one I love.
Accesorize zip front slouchy hobo bag

This bag is from Accesorize but can also be found in Monsoon and comes in a range of different colours. I first saw this bag when a friend had it in a light grey colour. I fell in love with it instantly and debated about whether to get it considering she had it already. I finally took the plunge and brought it in a light brown colour last week when i saw that is was for sale in Accesorize for only £28!!!!  When i saw the price I was shocked and even better than the price was the fact that as a student .I got an extra 10 percent off. How amazing is that!!

It is large and inside containson one side there is a phone pocket  and the other has a zipped pocket for all your personal items you want no one to see :D. The colour is a perfect spring to summer colour as brown goes with almost anything. The long shoulder strap makes it easy to carry and the size of it means it is perfect for all of us girls crap that we carry around with us, and when asked why? our reason is that SOMEDAY we might need it (yes someday we might need a bright pink button that feel off one of our cardigans we now no longer have)

I dont get the hype :(

Recently I have been searching for the perfect spring to summer bag, and i must say i am very picky. After a long time searching online and in shops and thinking about what i would like, I finally purchased a Paul's Boutique Tilly Twister bag for £70 from http://www.pauls-boutique.com/
.
Pauls Boutique Tilly Twister Bag £70

Now I know Pauls Boutique is loved by many, but I have to say I am not a fan.  Maybe it was just me but it looked tacky and cheap!! It scuffed so easily and as for the charm that came with it, all i can say is really?  For seventy pounds I was expecting so much more. I know many people will think that seventy pounds isnt alot for 'designer' bag. but for a seventeen year old part time worker it is!!!

However I can see some plus points to the bag.  The leopard print inner lining that is made of a silk like material is lovely and gives the bag  a much nicer look. As for the size, IT IS HUGE!!! I am not joking when i say you could probably fit a sixth month old baby in it. For someone who likes Paul's Boutique than it would make a good weekend bag but for me it is just not my thing and a huge waste of money as I am never going to use it.  I would  rather have spent my money on other things. But hey you live and you learn right??
